Fw: Hello! Your welcome!

I wrote Scotty I used his first email as part of my speech for our Volunteer Pot Luck Dinner. Below is the email he sent back to me. Below is my response to his first email.

Thanks for everything once again. It is great news that I could give you a few words to say, very touching to me also. It makes me feel it is all worth it for what we do. Sure we hate being away from our families, missing holidays, and other stuff we could be doing but I enjoy my job. If something I can do can ensure safety for family and friends (like you) then I have done my job. Just please remember all who paid the ultimate sacrifice. We have been fortunate with GOD's protection but he laid our plt sgt (SFC Bill Sutton) to rest on Feb 7 2012 due to a heart attack. Due to GOD's grace we are surviving and SFC Sutton's main goal was to bring everyone home safe, thats what we plan to do lord willing. Anything is greatful and we are all Thankful for your kindness and generosity. With Love SGT Scotty Floyd

Dear Scotty,

What a wonderful way to start the Lord's Day to receive your email. I was busily cooking for our thank you dinner to the organizations and individuals who help us support our troops! We presented presidential community service awards to girls scouts, individuals . Some didn't even know like my husband. The tv station and newspaper attended. Which is good because we operate a resale thrift store. Insert smile here which means people will donate stuff and go out to buy things for the troops.
I didn't know what I was going to say I never do. I ask Jesus for the words. Then, please don't let me mess this up! But when your email arrived today I knew what words to use. So I read your email. There were a lot of glassy eyes. Ssgt Tim Mahon was our guest and newly returned from Bagram. So he spoke. He said Mel, I need one of those tissues. I said if you are crying when I am done. I've done my job!
Thanks all around!
So would you like another box if DVDs?  More chocolate? Books? We have snacks? Tuna? Lol
Please give our love to the Sappers.
Grace & peace

A thank you- When it Rains it Pours

Mel,

Someone at the point of embarkation decided that yesterday was the day to get to work.  They sent us all the boxes that had been stacking up for weeks.  So instead of getting less than 4 boxes, I got 15 boxes.  It was like a whole new Christmas.  We were getting pretty low on stuff, thanks for bolstering us back up.  We can survive, but not live without your boxes.  To really live is to receive and definitely your boxes bring vive to life here in Oman for all the troops.  You always manage to find what we need.  Great stuff that brought lots of smiles to the troops.  I will send pictures of the Super Bowl it will definitely show your power at work.  Thanks for everything.

OPERATION SPIRIT PRESENTED WITH AMERICAN FLAG - story by @CottermanWHIZ

OPERATION SPIRIT PRESENTED WITH AMERICAN FLAG

For several months a local Airman has been receiving care packages in Afghanistan, but it wasn't until Friday he met the woman they were addressed by....

Staff Sergeant Tim Mahon of the Air National Guard grew up in Zanesville, yet he never met the Director of Operation Spirit Melody Pittman until he began receiving care packages in the mail.

"She just sends all the stuff and it gets addressed to me and I distribute it out to the troops and my squadron and over to Wounded Warrior," said Mahon. "It's a feeling, that's really hard to describe, it's like having a second Mom, you just can't wait to meet her."

Pittman has been shipping care packages to troops overseas for years. But this is only the second time she's been presented with an American Flag- a token of appreciation.

"I always tell people my tears are my joy over flowing, it's just really wonderful, joyful, to be able to help them and do things," said Pittman. "We were able to not only touch Tim's life, but dozens of the other troops that are over there."

Thank you

Subject: Box

Mel,

How are you?   Well we got your box.  First response, who would send us diapers?  Next response, "OH MY GOSH"!!! "FLAVORED OATMEAL, A CAN OPENER, JUST WHAT WE NEEDED"   How priceless a can opener in the desert.   You would of thought you sent gold.   Flavored Oatmeal is a big hit.   Peanuts can also make folks happy.  Thanks for your box.  I enjoyed the excitement for a day.  Hope all is well.

Thank You

Greetings from Cairo! Just a whole-hearted thank you for your efforts and support- we really appreciate it! We're a small group of Sailors and Soldiers here, screening for diseases in the area so we can keep our fellow troops healthy and safe. It was so generous and thoughtful of you and your crew to send a Christmas care package our way, and truly wonderful to know we're in your thoughts and prayers while we're away from our family and friends over the holiday season. Wishing you only the very best, and take care. Very respectfully, John,  Cairo Egypt

Speechless

> > Twas the night before Christmas and all through the Base, no one new what had come by mail space. Then it happended the very next day packages arrived not one but six. The troops face, jaw wide open betwitched. Had never seen such a sight the packages marched in to everyones delight. Then a flurry of sharp knives let forth in triumphant boast. You could have heard the noise in the next town or most. They laughed and they cried reading all of the Christmas cheer. To me only brought a solemn tear. For I knew it was nothing less. Than the best of Americans that leave me speechless.

Care Package

Ma’am,

Thank you so much for the care package.  We are very excited to hang up our Christmas decorations around the office.  We were especially excited to see the Christmas tree, we opened it right away and put batteries in it.  It is sitting on our table right now.  Thanks again.
